DAILY PROMPT: YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED
It’s January 26. Write a post in which the number 26 plays a role.
If my days were numbered at 26, I’ve overstepped the mark by 25,414, plus a few leap years that I can’t be bothered calculating. And if my number was up on January 26, I’ve snuck past that one, too – at least in Australia, where it’s now the 27th.
So… Am I living on borrowed time? And if so, who was absent-minded enough to give me this temporal overdraft in an age where bean-counting and time sheets are an international sport? There’s no question I’m a drain on the public purse. I’m OAP, for goodness sake! One of those, who should have been seen off with a kindly jab when they took to lazing around in the sun instead catching mice. But I’m still here.
Not that I’m complaining, you understand…
