Seizing the day 1/2: For M, who listens…and listens…

A conversation is a verbal interchange
of thoughts, ideas, and maybe juicy bits
of gossip, scurrilous or not.
Versationalists forget
that ‘con’ means ‘with’.
They leave no room for voices other than their own
or topics other than themselves.
The ‘interchange’ is lost:
merely a bagatelle to them,
a misty fantasy to those
condemned to listen.

Listen
and silent
are anagrams.
Trite?
Of course.
But think about it
when you shut your mouth for long enough to let your brain engage

Wow–that has a lot of insight! I especially like the “versationalists,” which I unfortunately sometimes am guilty of being.
