Seizing the day 11/2: Gulled

Troubles come
in flocks,
like seagulls rising up to squawk their scorn
that we would think calm seas
might last.
I don’t complain, you understand:
merely point out
that currents ebb and flow incessantly,
grabbing our ankles when we least expect.
