DAILY PROMPT: THREE COINS IN THE FOUNTAIN
Have you ever tossed a coin or two into a fountain and made a wish? Did it come true?

Not a fountain in sight, and even if there had been, I doubt I’d have squandered my money. But for the past three and a bit weeks I’ve been wishing like hell that I was home again – and now I am!

Not, let me hasten to say, that being in Sydney is horrible. I stay with my sister, who is a gem and a legend, and my best friend along with my children. I also get to see my kids and their kids, and being there probably stops me getting too eccentric too quickly.

But Home… What can I say?

Could do without the telephone post, but that's what happens when you live at the end of the line

It also means that I now have two functional eyeballs. What a treat! The view from my windows is quite different. It’s crisp. Trees no longer merge into each other. They’re different shades of green, each one an entity of its own. Maybe now even grey days will have colour I couldn’t see before. And the strangest thing is that I didn’t know what I was missing.

It will be a few weeks (and 560 eye drops) before I can get my new reading glasses, (still necessary since I couldn’t afford the extra $quillions to cure my astigmatism) but that’s small beer compared to the joy of putting the magnifying glass back in the drawer.

So what now?

My next wish (also without benefit of fountain) would be a write another novel. Not with high hopes of publication (agents’ opinion of the first was ‘entertaining, but not quite the Wow factor we’re looking for), but because the process is pig-in-mud territory that makes my toes zing. Lots of characters available, but no plot. Fish without water spring to mind. Not much prospect there of zingy toes.
