I wonder if He with the Orange Bonce is in denial, or whether he’s actually admitted to himself that being President isn’t as much fun as he thought it would be.
True, he still gets to amble through the corridors of power surrounded by suits with shades, but does this provide enough of a thrill to compensate for the checks and balances on what he thought would be ultimate power? He has a brooding look these days, which could indicate a yearning for those happy times when the only people questioning his omnipotence could be largely ignored.
But he doesn’t strike me as a person much given to introspection, so I also wonder what he might be planning under the orange rug. Getting even, perhaps? They may have shuffled off several of his key players, but I’m sure there are plenty more where they came from, and more ways of the killing the cat etc. He’s not really known for being gracious in defeat.
But most of all, I wonder if he’s in denial about what all that power means. And on the whole, I don’t think so. There are certain members of society who don’t need to deny that lesser mortals might have feelings similar to their own. The possibility just doesn’t occur to them.
