About me
I'm a freelance writer - fiction, nonfiction and anything else that happens to tango its way through my mind. That's for me, and I've won a competition or two, and been published in a range of media. To keep the wolf from the door, I also edit, proofread and write for other people. Love it all. Aren't I lucky?

Daily post: Junk
The best way of clearing junk is to move house, preferably into something smaller where it won’t fit. This isn’t to say I don’t still have stuff that my children will dispose of as they see fit after I’m dead: … Continue reading
Daily post: Bending time with a flick of the mind
In my days as a hypnotherapist (well I did mention I’d had a chequered career) I used time distortion quite a lot. On myself rather than my clients, who were more interested in ego distortion and mind-bending angst than in … Continue reading
Daily post: Language 2100? Don’t want to know
DAILY PROMPT: 2100 The language of the future: what will it be like? I have no idea what the language of the future will be like – and thank god for that. If the present trend continues, we might have … Continue reading
Daily post: Celebrate?
There are a couple of things floating around my portion of the ether that, if they came off, would definitely be cause for celebration. But as you may have gathered, I’m not exactly y’r all-singing, all-dancing party animal, so I … Continue reading
Daily post: Non sequitur
I hate winter. The rot set in at boarding school. After a childhood of open fires and a kitchen range, the gothic austerity of mens sana in corpore sano at temperatures hovering either side of 0o Celsius was a shock … Continue reading
Daily post: Practice makes perfect…
What a good thing I don’t want to be perfect at anything! Even the thought of all the practice required has me longing for a nap. I don’t want to be a dancer, a singer, an artist, a doctor, a … Continue reading
Daily post: Education
The ultimate purpose of education is to inspire its recipients to want to know, and to teach them to think – logically, constructively, laterally or creatively as the need arises. The basic necessity is to teach them the three Rs, … Continue reading
Daily post: Fair? Yep
‘Is it fair that I get the Daily Prompt after 10 at night, so by the time I post the next morning, most bloggers are asleep and it goes unnoticed – proved by the fact that on the rare occasions … Continue reading
Daily post: Fair? I don’t think so…
DAILY PROMPT: NO FAIR Tell us about something you think is terribly unfair — and explain how you would rectify it. Photographers, artists, poets: show us FAIR. She sits among her dimples drinking tea and eating cake and drawing up … Continue reading
